Tony Ortega Praises Those Who Started Backpage
The Backpage trial ended with one of the founders, Michael Lacey, running out of the courthouse after being convicted of one count of money laundering. While two other executives of Backpage went down for prostitution.
The Associated Press reported on the Arizona jury deadlocking on eighty-six other charges, and it would have been a slam dunk if Tony Ortega, former Backpage ads manager and vicious defender, was under penalty of perjury spilling the operation of this human trafficking site.
In one of his public statements, Ortega said “The people I work for were smart enough to start Backpage.com.” This was stated while being involved in the human trafficking site, as another lousy deflection of his.
Where is Backpage now? It has been shut down and taken to trial where executives have gone down for prostitution and where one of its founders was convicted of money laundering. But in Ortega’s mind they are “smart”.
